The original site for what is now Paris was established by the Romans. In which years did the Romans take control over most the area now known as France?
Paris was not established by the Romans. According to the archaeological evidence we have to date, the site where Paris is located has been inhabited since at least 4200 BC. The Romans started conquering Gaul (present day France, Belgium, and Germany) from the south in 121 BC. They reached Paris in 52 BC and had the entire territory that is now France under their control by 51 BC (well, except for that one village where Asterix lives).
